Here’s the superwash merino sock yarn that I am going to knit boy sox from. I’m going to use the same pattern I loved for girl sox and another I found on-line, (thanks to the hint of the girl at the LYS where I bought the yarn), which is sized for boys. I think the girl pattern won’t be wide enough around the leg so I will cast on and divide according to the boy pattern. To keep the yarn from not rolling away or being taken away by the cat I like to keep it in a ziploc so that it feeds through a crack in the top. Check this most beautiful ziploc ever that my friend and colleague gave me. All the way from Kew gardens, I might add.
This a close-up of my very first sox. Well, one of the pair, so just a sock. And I didn’t even need to use needles that look like bamboo skewers. I love them and loved knitting them so much that I have ordered some cool self-striping wool for another pair, and also bought some boy colour wool to knit a pair for Drummer Boy, who is my fiance and who never wants me to knit him anything. Earlier this summer I was trying my first ever cable project and knitting golf club covers, (only 2 because I only have 2 woods – and they really are wood!) and I asked him if he wanted any, and he said “no thanks”. But come to think of it I did knit him a toque last year, also in “boy” colours out of Noro Kureyon, and he did wear it.

I knit, I drink wine and sometimes I do both at the same time! A shout out to Ms. M.S. whose expression I have “stolen” as my own moniker and the name of this blog. I intend to share my exploits in words and photos.
